Tunneling of Interacting Fermions in 1D Systems

چکیده
Using the self-consistent Hartree–Fock approximation for spinless electrons at zero temperature, we study tunneling of the interacting electron gas through a single δ barrier in a finite one-dimensional wire connected to contacts. Our results exhibit features known from correlated many-body models. In particular, the conductance decays with the wire length as ∝ L−2α, where the power α is universal. We also show that a similar result for a wire conductance can be extracted from the persistent current (I) through the δ barrier in a one-dimensional ring, where it is known that I ∝ L−1−α.

Fundamental Aspects of Electron Correlations and Quantum Transport in One-dimensional Systems
Some aspects of physics on interacting fermions in 1D are discussed in a tutoriallike manner. We begin by showing that the non-analytic corrections to the Fermiliquid forms of thermodynamic quantities result from essentially 1D collisions embedded into a higher-dimensional phase space. The role of these collisions increases progressively as dimensionality is reduced until, finally, they lead to...
متن کاملTuning the interactions of spin-polarized fermions using quasi-one-dimensional confinement.
We develop a multichannel scattering theory for atom-atom collisions in quasi-1D geometries. We apply our general framework to the low energy scattering of two spin-polarized fermions and show that tightly confined fermions have infinitely strong interactions at a particular value of the 3D, free-space p-wave scattering volume. Moreover, we describe a mapping of this strongly interacting system...
متن کاملQuasiclassical Theory of Electronic Transport in Mesoscopic Sys- Tems: Luttinger Liquids Revisited
The method of the quasiclassical Green’s function is used to determine the equilibrium properties of onedimensional (1D) interacting Fermi systems, in particular, the bulk and the local (near a hard wall) density of states. While this is a novel approach to 1D systems, our findings do agree with standard results for Luttinger liquids obtained with the bosonization method. Analogies to the so-ca...
متن کاملTransport of one-dimensional interacting fermions through a barrier.
We study the transport properties of one-dimensional (1D) interacting Fermions through a barrier by numerically calculating the Kohn charge stiffness constant and the relative Drude weight. We find that the transport properties of the 1D Hubbard model are quite different from those of the 1D spinless Fermion model. For example, the presence of the attractive interaction between electrons in the...

A local interaction in noncommutative space modifies to a non-local one. For an assembly of particles interacting through the contact potential, formalism of the quantum field theory makes it possible to take into account the effect of modification of the potential on the energy of the system. In this paper we calculate the energy shift of an assembly of non-relativistic fermions, interacting...
